The Social Change Conference in BC – Wanna go? Scholarships to attend offered.

We are offering 4 scholarships for change leaders aged 18-34 to attend the Social Change Institute (SCI) 2018 conference at the Hollyhock Leadership Institute on Cortes Island, B.C. from June 20–24, 2018. We are looking to support individuals from Muslim, Indigenous and other racialized and historically marginalized backgrounds working to create greater inclusion in Canada particularly by addressing discrimination based on race, ethnicity and religion. The Social Change Institute (SCI) conference is described as an intergenerational gathering of social change makers and aims to help attendees hone their skills in creating change, and focus on both individual and collective leadership development. Conference program include learning and deepening strategies related to community engagement, organizing, digital advocacy, fundraising, cause-related marketing, branding, and personal leadership training. The deadline to apply is May 27, 2018 at 11:59PM ET.

When and where is it?
The Social Change Institute (SCI) 2018 conference will take place on June 20–24, 2018 at the Hollyhock Institute on Cortes Island, B.C.

Participant criteria:
• Between the ages of 18-34
• Able to attend the entire conference (June 20–24, 2018)
• Demonstrable practice as a change leader or practitioner working to advance inclusion and equity particularly by addressing discrimination based on race, religion and ethnicity
• Demonstrable lived experience as an individual from a Muslim, Indigenous and other racialized or historically marginalized backgrounds
• Likely to apply learning to practice in Canada
• Likely to benefit from learning outcomes of conference
• Must agree to participate in post-conference evaluation and online session hosted by Inspirit
• Willing to share insights in a blog or other forms about their experience at the conference for use by Inspirit

What does this scholarship cover?
The scholarship includes:
• Full SCI conference registration fee;
• Accommodation and meals at the Hollyhock Institute based on the shared dorm rate;
• Travel costs to and from Cortes Island, from anywhere in Canada.

How is the selection made?
Inspirit and our partners will make the selection based on the above criteria, as well as regional balance. We will actively seek to promote access, inclusion and equity by ensuring that this opportunity is made accessible to those of different backgrounds and beliefs.
