Passionate about different cultures, helping others and travelling?

Are you interested in learning about different cultures, helping others and travelling?

If the answer to this question is YES – then the Dominican Republic Cultural Immersion trip is for you.

In partnership with universities, donors and volunteers across the country, we’re investing in the future of Canada. We offer the country’s largest and most comprehensive four-year undergraduate award, providing young leaders of character with opportunities to develop their talents and work towards a better world.

Eligibility Criteria for High School Students
  • Be in your final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school.
  • Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%.
  • Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
  • Be at least 16 years of age by September 1st of the following year.

Students have TWO ways to apply, either be a “Sponsored” Applicant by Dartmouth High, or enter the “Direct pool” of applications.

  1. To be considered for the Sponsored Application, complete the Loran Award application online at Once completed, print off your application and bring it to Student Services by 3:30pm on Monday, October 2nd. Dartmouth High can sponsor up to 3 applicants. Once the DHS review committee has chosen 3 students to be sponsored they will each be notified. Students not chosen to be sponsored are still able to send their applications into the direct pool.
  2. To enter the Direct Pool on your own, students can complete the application online at

AARAO Post-Secondary Fair

This Post Secondary Fair is a way for students to check out many of post secondary options (Universities and Colleges) at one convenient location. Reps will be available to answer questions and provide information on their institutions.
The student session will take place at Dartmouth High on October 3 from 8:30am til 9:30am.
Parents are invited to evening sessions at:
Auburn Drive High School – on Tuesday, October 3rd at 6pm.
Halifax West High School –  Wednesday October 4th 6-7pm in the gymnasium.
