Haiti Earthquake Relief

Tera Moussignac-Cimello and Brianna Kwak are coordinating efforts with the Cultural Awareness Youth Group of Dartmouth High to host a Toonie Drive for the Haiti Earthquake Relief.   Tera and Brianna will be available during lunch in the Foyer to collect donations of Toonies in the 18 litre water bottle provided.  The bottle will be located in the office any other time for Toonie collection.   Funds raised will be sent to the Canadian Humanitarian Coalition, an umbrella organization of disaster relief organizations: Care Canada, Oxfam Canada, Oxfam Quebec and Save the Children. Humanitarian Coalition members are presently in Haiti and are supplying safe drinking water, food, shelter materials and hygiene kits to survivors.

Every Toonie will make a difference and our total donation will be matched by the Canadian Government.  This opportunity is open to us until February 12.   However, February 09 will be the last day for this Toonie Drive in order to get the funds to the Humanitarian Coalition by February 12.   Wouldn’t it be great to fill this bottle to the rim to help support thousands of Haitians affected by this devastation?

Cell Phone Policy
DHS is committed to the preservation and integrity of the learning environment.  As such, it is expected that all students respect and support the sanctity of the classroom environment.
Cell phones must be powered off and must not be visible in classrooms, hallways, and the cafeteria at all times during class blocks A-B-C-D.   This guideline also applies during field trips. However, cell phone use is permitted during break time, and at lunchtime in the cafeteria and in the hallways. Note that cell phone use is never permitted in the library, school offices, Keating Hall, gymnasiums, bathrooms, and locker rooms.
Blatant disregard for this policy may fall under disruptive behaviour and may lead to serious consequences as per the school’s discipline policy.
